Will My Release Retain Streaming History After Migration?

Yes — in most cases, releases migrated through Kingsmen Studio (via Revelator) will keep their streaming history, such as play counts and monthly listener figures. However, this depends heavily on maintaining consistency in your metadata and the specific streaming services involved.

How to Ensure a Smooth Migration (and Preserve Your Data)

  • Use Identical Metadata
Make sure that critical metadata fields match exactly between the original and migrated release. This includes:

    • Tracks: ISRC, track length, title, version, artist name(s), lyrics language, and parental advisory status.

    • Releases: UPC, track count, metadata language.
Keeping these consistent ensures platforms recognize the new upload as the same release.

  • DSP-Specific Limitations
Some platforms may not preserve play data at all. Streaming history will not carry over when migrating to:

    • iHeartRadio

    • iMusica

    • KKBOX

    • Nuuday

    • YouTube Music
To avoid surprises, double-check migration capabilities with Kingsmen Studio before proceeding.

Why It Matters

  • Preserves Your Data: Keeping your ISRCs and metadata aligned preserves your album or track’s streaming counts, playlist placements, and algorithmic achievements.

  • Avoids Starting Over: Inconsistent or new metadata essentially resets your release, making it start from scratch.

  • Eliminates Risk: Knowing in advance which platforms don’t carry over stats prevents unexpected data loss.

1

Ensure all track and release metadata (e.g. ISRC, UPC, titles, artists) are exactly the same

2

Confirm whether each DSP preserves streaming history — particularly iHeartRadio, iMusica, KKBOX, Nuuday, and YouTube Music, which do not

3
