What Are Artist Splits?

Artist Splits allow your collaborators (such as featured artists, producers, or co-writers) to receive their share of royalties automatically when payments are run. This is done through contract-based allocations at the track level, and it integrates smoothly into your release workflow.

How to Set It Up

  1. Go to the Rights section of a distributed release (music, video, or ringtone).

  2. Select Artist Splits within that release.

  3. For each track, specify:

    • Payee name(s)

    • Payee email address(es)

    • Each payee’s percentage share of royalties

  4. To replicate splits across tracks, use the "Copy Splits from Track" option.

If track-level splits differ across tracks, Kingsmen Studio will generate a prorated release-level contract to manage scenarios like full-album downloads.

Collaboration Workflow & Notifications

  • Splits creators must confirm collaborator emails—incorrect emails can risk misdirected payments.

  • Collaborators receive notifications to:

    • Add their payment information

    • Confirm existing payee accounts if they’ve previously worked with Kingsmen Studio

Importantly, the splits setup is entirely handled by your team or clients—Kingsmen Studio handles the payouts but doesn’t require internal approval of splits.
